First off, Holiness is not a by-product, it is a necessity, for without it no man can see God. You talk about how men in certain denominations, have set up codes and laws to control people. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know you are talking about the great men and women of the United Pentecostal Church. Don't be a coward and hide behind you big words, just come out and say what you mean. From what I read in your article you are bitter towards the UPC for whatever reason. Bitterness is a sin which disqualifies you as holy. So before judging others in the UPC or any other denomination try dealing with your bitterness first.

Holiness does mean to be set apart, just as the Israelites were separated by God from the rest of the nations. When the Israelites began to "relate" to their world, they began to compromise with the world, and that is ususally when their troubles began.

I know who I am in Jesus Christ. My family and I live, dress and act the way we do because of conviction and a desire to please God;a desire to be a peculiar people, a holy generation. We live in this world, but I cannot relate because God has called me out of the darkness into His marvelous light. I follow the word of God in my desire to fulfill the Great Commission, but I will not compromise. What would that show? I do not feel bound because of what I believe. I have never felt so free.

You are right. Some judge your relationship with God by appearance, but so did the Pharisee. Jesus told them that they were as dead men walking. No life, no substance. That is plain wrong. To force holiness and convictions upon people is not a mandate from God. If you preach and teach the Word with love, then God will open the eyes of the heart and mind to what true holiness is. I follow no man, but I have set my eyes towards Jesus.

I have to agree with Officer on this one. There does seem to be a trace of bitterness towards the "religous affiliation" that the writer left. It is there in every article. I almost feel sorry for him. I am of the opinion that he feels convicted, not because he left the UPCI(no denomination owns the corner on salvation), but because he has now become that which he despised. The writer subliminally condemns and judges through his writings. Where is the love for those of us who are still part of the UPC, and who strive to live for God as best as we can?

Your big words and smooth sentences cannot hide the fact that you are still searching for your place in Christ, my brother.

I dont think this man is bitter about UPC at all, I think he is being honest and basing it on scripture, which I have to admit, he is right. IN the UPC many ladies "ignore" selectively scriptures such as 1 Timonthy where it states women should not wear pearls, etc. and yet many of our ladies adorn themselves looking like Geishas sometimes, in expensive outfits, ignornig the scriputure, jewlery in hair, promise rings. If you are going to adhere to scripture, then do it all the way.

Hmm. Don't see the author as being bitter; however, your response comes across as angry and bitter and ungodly.

Perhaps if we had more people addressing the principle of holiness, rather than "standards" of holiness, we would see true revival in our hearts, churches, and nations.
