Cuba Update From Missionary Rennard PDF Print E-mail

There has not been a greater time in history to witness the glory of God working in His church.  The Spirit of God is moving across the nations and will continue to move until every nation and tongue profess His glory.  Last October God moved miraculously in Cuba, filling 119 people with His spirit in a conference held in Havana.  However, this was just a sign of more to come.

In January of 2008 my family and I left for the nation of Cuba for the fourth time in under a year and we were anticipating a productive trip.  This trip was different from previous visits.  With God’s help and miraculous power we were expecting to stay for up to three months, which would be the longest time that we’ve spent in Cuba.  Our desire was to engross ourselves in Cuban culture and focus our efforts on the local churches.  In total there are 15 active churches in our area of work and we wanted to visit each and spend time with each pastor, hearing their desire for revival and their vision for that local church.

For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.  Rom. 6:14 (NIV)

While sleeping in on Monday morning, due to the exhaustion of traveling 9 hours and then preaching twice … all in a 48 hour span, I was assaulted by one of those utterly impossible individuals whom God seems to have sprinkled into every life to test grace and develop patience in His children.  As I floated through clouds of sleep and pillows of rest - the phone began to ring!!!

By time I got out of bed and managed to find the phone (which was not on the hook like it was supposed to be) while tripping over a pair of heels

I am thrilled to be a participant in the critical mission of reaching Cuba for Christ.

A couple of months ago, I was privileged to meet with James Rennard, missionary to Cuba.  WOW!!!  This young man and his family are the real deal.  They are sold out, literally!  Their testimony and passion for the ripe fields of Cuba are exhilarating and very, very refreshing.

Pastors and church leaders, I encourage you to get involved with the mission Jesus has birthed in the hearts of this beautiful family.  The Church of Champions and New Church Order are donating the funds to secure their housing for their next term which begins in August 2008. There are immediate needs in Cuba.  We need roofing supplies, chairs, sound systems, books, educational materials, and portable fans.  All of these supplies can be purchased in Cuba, so help the Rennard family with a financial donation today.

Prosperous Living During A Recession PDF Print E-mail

Are we in a recession? Officially, that's up to a nonprofit group of economists at the National Bureau of Economic Research to decide. While their declaration is based on facts and figures, we can look around to determine whether we are already in the midst of the big "R." Gas prices are higher than ever, restaurants are not as busy, golf courses are empty, there are fewer shoppers in retail stores, travel is down, real estate values have diminished (in the Northwest), and the stock market is inconsistent.

Even as a Christian, it is easy to look around with fear and uncertainty. The first thing we want to do is react in a similar manner as our peers. However, we must keep in mind a few Biblical truths. There are no recessions in God's economy. Those of us who are citizens of the kingdom of God can prosper and live the elevated life even while a recession plays out in the secular world around us. Our blessing is not determined by the economy of our state or country. Our provision and reward is not predicated on the rise or fall of the stock market. We can enjoy prosperous living during a recession.

Soaking Up Real Faith PDF Print E-mail

When I call to remembrance the genuine faith . . . which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.    2 Timothy 1:5

Osmosis is a gradual process whereby a liquid moves through a membrane resulting in an equal concentration of fluid on both sides. It is a scientific phenomenon that we use in North American jargon to explain a natural tendency to allow things into our psych without much effort. We sometimes say things like, "She learned German by osmosis while living there." The truth of the matter is that many things can be acquired by "osmosis" ... including knowledge and belief.

While we don't know exactly what went on in Timothy's household when he was growing up, it looks like he might have acquired his faith in an osmotic fashion: soaking it up from his mother and grandmother who were both believers in Jesus. Timothy's mother (and perhaps his grandmother) was a Jewess, so she likely had an Old Testament understanding of the Messiah (Acts 16:1) which Timothy probably soaked up as well. The fact is, regardless of how they came to believe in Jesus, in time ... Timothy came along with them. We often hear people say, "I can't remember a time when I didn't believe even though I confessed my faith publicly when I was twelve." This comes as a result of a faithful example from a parent or other influence that consistently exemplifies truth faith in Christ.  We must live our lives as proof that there is no other option.
