One principle long recognized in the Church is that movements in governments and principalities often reflect what is happening in the spirit-world and vice versa. Also as pointed out in a previous article in this forum sometimes a new phenomenon will give raise to a new vernacular. The term “devolution” is one currently making the rounds among social scientists and economists. It is used to describe a globally impacting trend currently epicentered in Europe but spreading. Devolution is the break down of strong federal government in favor of regional, cultural, and economic units. Examples include the breakup of the USSR into Russia and several satellite countries. This directly resulted in the explosion of Yugoslavia into approximately six (and counting) countries. No industrialized country is immune including such powerhouses as United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, and even Germany. There are currently no less than 18 such hot spots in Europe and new countries are splintering also on the continents of Africa and Asia.

†Proselytes have enjoyed fellowship and community with Judaism from the earliest of times. The Law of Moses gave specific instruction to, and established explicit regulations for, the admission of those who were not born of Hebrew blood into Israel’s Kehilla.

I experienced something last night during our youth service that I’ve never experienced before. It was definitely a first. You know, we have come to expect the norm when we go to church. Praise and Worship, Prayer, Offering, Announcements, maybe a special song…and then someone delivers the Word. Right?
I allow the youth to preach if they so desire or feel led. I couldn’t stand hearing my youth pastor every service…you have to mix it up a little. Last night was one of those nights. Three weeks ago a young man approached me and said that he wanted to preach. I thought for sure it was going to be a homerun and that the alter would be filled.

I remember watching the movie Rocky One and the scene where Rocky is standing in his corner bleeding profusely and his eyes are swelling shut. I was sitting there as a boy thinking, “Just quit, dude! You fought a good fight!” But then Rocky tells his trainer those famous words, “Cut Me, Mickie!”, and unwillingly his trainer takes a blade and releases the swelling to allow Rocky to fight on and win the fight. (Rumor has it that they made a few more of those Rocky movies…).
What was the driving force behind this scene? What would push someone to the cutting point? How can someone look beyond the pain and still see the prize?

I don’t pretend to be proficient in Bible prophecy. In fact, the study of Bible prophecy is the Achilles heel of my Scriptural studies.
However, I am studious enough in Scripture to be cognizant of the fact that today’s news headlines are a startling announcement of the “Bear” moving out of its dormancy. It appears in the latest “breaking news” from www.foxnews.com that a significant earthquake (magnitude 7.9) has rocked Indonesia. What struck me like a thunderbolt was a corresponding news report, “Russian President Dissolves Government.”
