David gathers his twelve and in so doing tells us something about who is "qualified” to be the New Church Order. Those who came were;
- IN DEBT – II Kings 4:1-3
- IN DISTRESS – Acts 19:21
- IN DISCONTENTMENT - Deut. 32:11
It was only later, that David’s mighty men were described as:
- ARMED - I Chron. 12:1-2; Eph. 6:10-17
- Remember, Life is not a beach; it’s a mountain
- Life is not a cruise ship; it’s a battleship.
- AMBIDEXTROUS – I Chron. 12:12-31
- They could fight with either hand. They were switch hitters. They were unique and unpredictable.
- David produced a place in the “New Order” where individuality was not scorned, but celebrated.
- ARROWS OUT OF A BOW - I Chron. 12:2-3; Isa. 49:1-3; Gal. 4:4
- We know that we are the anointed of God and called, therefore we must burnished and polished as an arrow’s shaft in the noonday sun. This is a painful thing – but necessary to develop patience with the quiver.
- We then wait for the fullness of time to be launched (shot out), used by God.
- SEPARATED THEMSELVES UNTO DAVID - Luke 1:38; 24:46 James 1:8
- David was their “purpose”
- The ministry must rediscover purpose and separate ourselves unto it.
- Knowing our purpose eliminates double-mindedness.
- FACES AS FACES OF A LION - I Chron. 12:8; Ex. 33:18-23; Rev. 1:9-12
- This speaks uncontrollable passion; focused and ferocious.
- SWIFT AS GAZELLES UPON THE MOUNTAIN - I Chron. 12:8; II Sam. 18
- Welcome to the 21st century where speed and change are controlling everything. We must “keep up”; We must run faster.
- Cushi, the one with the message left first.
- Ahimaaz, the one without the message left last. Yet Ahimaaz outran Cushi.
- We must run fast in the High Places. Isa. 11:2
- THEY WENT OVER JORDAN AT FLOOD TIME AND PUT TO FLIGHT ALL OF THEM IN THE VALLEYS - I Chron. 12:15; Psa. 78:35-41
- There can be no battle too bloody or no obstacle too great. We must have total victory.
- There are tests. The fearful and afraid – 22,000; Water tested – 9700
- New Church Order ministers know the Law of the Battle.
- Deut. 2:36; II Sam. 23:10; II Sam. 23:11-12
- UNIFIED – II Chron. 12:18; Acts 2:42-47
- Thine are we; You are me; I am you
- We have the same DNA
- UNDERSTANDING OF THE TIMES – I Chron. 12:32; Amos 6:1
- We are running out of tomorrows!
- COULD KEEP RANK - Rom. 12:3; Heb. 13:7,17; Isa. 14:12-15
- Recognized their capabilities and limitations. Recognized their position and operated in it.
- Recognized true spiritual authority and did all to get under it.
- Guarded against pride, iniquity, and rebellion.
The Bible tells us that “two wagons and four oxen he gave to the sons of Gershon and four wagons and eight oxen he gave to the sons of Merari. But unto the sons’ of Kohar he gave none.”
- We are not created equal, we do not have the same gifts! We understand that we cannot do what others do, and they cannot do what we can do!
- But, in the New Church Order, we celebrate the five-fold ministry which establishes true Biblical rank and order – and when in order, the differences are made up and thus we sing,
TOGETHER WE SHALL CONQUER!
