I don’t pretend to be proficient in Bible prophecy. In fact, the study of Bible prophecy is the Achilles heel of my Scriptural studies.

However, I am studious enough in Scripture to be cognizant of the fact that today’s news headlines are a startling announcement of the “Bear” moving out of its dormancy. It appears in the latest “breaking news” from www.foxnews.com that a significant earthquake (magnitude 7.9) has rocked Indonesia. What struck me like a thunderbolt was a corresponding news report, “Russian President Dissolves Government.”

The aforementioned are some of the latest indicators of Grace to prompt our awareness that we continue to mark yet another milestone in the march through the chronology of Bible prophecy. Certainly we can agree that the earth has experienced some of the strangest weather patterns ever recorded by mankind in the past few months.

All of these are signs that we are living in the “perilous times” (see I Tim. 3:1-17) the apostle Paul spoke of in his letter to Timothy. It is significant to note that the Patmos penman, Apocalyptic John said, “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear , and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority” (Rev 13:1-2 KJV). Jesus said of this time, “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows” (Mark 13:8 KJV). Certainly, students of Scripture agree that we are living in, what is commonly called, the end of times.

While these signs are given to us by the grace of God, our true struggle is not far from anyone of us. Grace keeps reminding us with the gentle hands of Love to be vigilant, for our Bridegroom is coming! Yet, the North American church has a blistering battle that is being waged against her. She must keep the oil fresh, and the light burning. For in this struggle, weariness seeks to claim for its victim the once vibrant, energetic believer who now experiences the wear which comes from this constant barrage of struggle.

The tool utilized by the enemy of God’s people in his latest assault, is not fashioned from the hardened-steel materiels for our physical destruction. No, this tool is fashioned from the lowlands of hell to assault to the psyche of mankind so that it may claim his home; his family; and ultimately his soul.

The American Family is the new ground zero!

The traditional family unit is under a 24/7 barrage from hell, a marshaled assault like it has never experienced before. Fathers, Mothers – enforce Christ’s victory in your home. Be proactive! Declare war on the influences of the world which seek entrance into your home through the windows of television, ipods, text messages, Wii, Naruto, Manga, Playstation 3, XBox360, Gamecube, Nintendo, etc…. Be diligent in teaching and training your children in the ways of God. Don’t demand “godly behavior” from them, while demonstrating “carnality” before them. Live what you believe, and be willing to die for what you love.

A love for the traditions of American family must experience a revival in this crass world of individuality and personal choice. The American family must have a revival that begins at altars of repentance.

It is a documented fact that family life in America today is more challenging than ever before. The sanity and sanctity of family is being assaulted by unparalleled evil! The Parents Television Council has issued its latest analysis of content concerns on broadcast television during the "family hour," the first 60 minutes of prime-time programming. PTC's researchers looked at 180 hours of broadcast TV during the 2006-07 season, analyzing shows on ABC, NBC, CBS, CW, Fox and Fox's My Network TV. They found that since their last similar study in 2000-01, sexual content has increased by 22.1%, while violence has increased by 52.4%. Use of offensive language (when including the words "h---," "d--n" and "crap") has actually fallen 25.4%; when those mild expletives are excluded, offensive language is down 3.5%. The PTC notes, however, that "broadcasters have greatly increased the prevalence of harsh language [40%] obscured by bleeps or partial editing such as f-words and s-words." Overall, the study found that only 10.8% of 208 episodes viewed were free from "all" objectionable content.

Listen to this startling statistic: “On average, anyone watching network TV during the first prime-time hour could expect 12.3 instances of problematic programming.” Fox was the worst offender, with an average of 20.8 objectionable instances per hour. ► Sources: [latimes.com, 9/6/07; Reuters, 9/6/07]

One of MTV's new fall shows, A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila, will revolve around a bisexual MySpace star choosing a partner from among 16 straight guys and 16 lesbians. Tila Tequila has more "friends" on her MySpace page than anyone in the history of the social network. ► Sources: [tvweek.com, 9/6/07]

Parents and church leaders everywhere should join together in prayer for a revival in the American home. Also, may I personally challenge parents of teenagers to regular check on your child’s MySpace page. This social network makes other mediums of gossip pale. The pictures, language, and lewd suggestions that your children are exposed to in 2007 are beyond the comprehension of decent-minded adults.

I challenge you to restore some of your family traditions by taking time to rehearse for your children their beautiful heritage in Christ as well as their paternal and maternal heritages. As we approach this holiday season, make special plans to be together, pray together and love together. Your family is worth your effort to live on purpose!

Only the "family" can rehearse its deliverance and preserve its future by instructing its young with Truth! Pass it on to them, your heritage demands it!
